Andrey Patenko

Andrey started his fitness training at a young age in the former Soviet Union, where he became a professional athlete. Since age of fourteen he participated in national track and field competitions with the Republic of Uzbekistan team.

In 1985 he entered Institute of Physical Education and Sport in Tashkent. Sophomore year he was recruited in to the Soviet Army. There he served as a drill sergeant in a Special Commands Team (SPETSNAZ) for two years, 1986-88. As a drill sergeant his focus was on Special Physical and Combat training.

In 1991 he earned a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Sport. Following graduation he moved to Russia and joined the Perm Regional Central Police Department. There his responsibilities included teaching of special combat skills, self-defense, and firearm techniques.

In 1992, rise in organized crime in Russia led to the formation of fast-response SWAT team, where Andrey served as an instructor for three years. He grew into the role of Senior Lieutenant while working as an instructor for the Regional Central Police Department.

All the while he achieved Master status in Russian hand-to-hand fighting and combat Sambo. His dedication to fitness and martial arts has led him to numerous Russian and international medals in full-contact competitions. Andrey trained with great masters like Oleg Taktarov (UFC Champion), Vladimir Vasiliev (director and chief instructor of SYSTEMA), Mikhail Ryabko (founder of SYSTEMA), and Pavel Tsatsouline (RKC Chief Instructor).

In 1995 Andrey retired from the Police Department and continued his career as instructor in the commercial security services. He worked as Personal Bodyguard to the President of bank "IMPERIAL" until 1998.

In 1998 Andrey was invited with his team to participate in International Martial Arts Competition in Louisville, Kentucky. The friends he made there would invite him a year later to compete in a National seminar, and extended on offer for him to become a Martial Arts instructor in the USA. During the following six years, Andrey worked as a coach and personal trainer in numerous clubs and schools in the Philadelphia area.

While living in Philadelphia Andrey and his wife dreamt of one day owning a personal training studio. In 2006 Andrey and his wife went on to establish their own ProForm Fitness Personal Training Company, and has become a leading trainer in Russian kettlebells and martial arts. He is the only native Russian to hold the very prestigious RKC (Russian Kettlebell Challenge) certification in the state of Pennsylvania.


Andrey trains both private clients and professional trainers using his in depth knowledge of kettlebells and martial arts in achieving overall fitness.


Yelena Patenko

Yelena was born in a small town of Nefteyugansk, located in Central Siberia, Russia. At a young age she enjoyed ice-skating, gymnastics, dancing, and track and field. In her teenage years she discovered a passion for Karate and dedicated her athletic efforts toward mastering this martial art. Through Karate she learned discipline, self-control, strength, and flexibility.

In 1989-90 she participated in numerous national tournaments and won two national titles. As a result of these competitions she earned a black-belt in Shotokan Karate.

In 1992 Yelena began her Freshman year at University of Perm, where she majored in Sport Sciences. While in school she worked part-time as a martial arts instructor and a personal trainer. She graduated in 1996 and continued working as a trainer in the SC (Sports Club) Dynamo.

In 1998 she received Best Martial Arts Instructor of the Year Award from the Hand-to-hand Combat Federation of Perm Region, where she was the only female certified instructor.

In 2000 Yelena moved to the States. She continued working as a personal trainer for the largest fitness club in Montgomery, PA. While working in the Philadelphia are she continued her sports education and earned YMCA certification and in 2004 became a certified I.S.S.A. (International Sport Science Association) fitness trainer.

Yelena and her husband Andrey opened their first ProForm Fitness Personal Training Company in 2006. There her primary focus is in martial arts, weight-loss, and special fitness conditioning.
